This belt also fits walk-behind models in the 0 through 6 series, equipped with handle bars and a inch deck. Local automotive parts dealers carry this belt under a different part number, but can cross-reference it to ensure you get the right one. Snapper carries it under part number This belt is the same size for mowers withand inch decks -- it runs from a pulley on the transmission, at the rear of the tractor, to a pulley near the front of the tractor, rather than the width of the deck.
Zero-turn mowers have large decks and require longer deck drive belts than standard riding mowers with decks of the same width. Snapper carries this belt under part number When you remove this belt, use the lever on the idler pulley to release the tension. This allows the belt to slip off the pulleys. Snapper self-propelled mowers have a V-style belt to transfer power from the transmission to the wheels so the mower does most of the work.
When this belt becomes worn, the mower no longer propels itself forward. The SP has an adjustment feature in the drive-control housing for tightening tension on the belt. Diana K. The serpentine belt is a single belt that travels around all of the accessories on the front of the engine. Instead of having two or three different belts, the serpentine belt makes it possible to run all of the engine accessories with just the one belt. If the belt shows signs of significant cracking or wear, replace it before it breaks and leaves you stranded on the side of the road.
Open the hood on the Chevy Express. Locate the serpentine belt routing diagram. The diagram can be found on the top of the fan shroud that surrounds the radiator. If you do not see the serpentine belt routing diagram, draw out the routing direction of the old serpentine belt on a notepad, or use the routing diagram in the References section. Locate the spring loaded serpentine belt tensioner on the front of the engine. The tensioner will have a spring loaded arm on one end and a pulley on the other end.
Turn the tensioner clockwise to relieve the tension from the serpentine belt. Remove the serpentine belt from the tensioner pulley with your other hand. Remove the serpentine belt from the remaining pulleys. Slide the belt around the radiator cooling fan and remove the belt from the engine compartment. Slide the new serpentine belt around the radiator cooling fan. Route the new serpentine belt around the crankshaft pulley first.
The crankshaft pulley is the big pulley on the bottom of the engine. Route the new serpentine belt around the remaining pulleys by using the serpentine belt routing diagram. Leave the alternator pulley for last. Turn the tensioner clockwise and slide the serpentine belt onto the alternator pulley with your other hand. Release the tensioner. Inspect the serpentine belt to ensure it is inside of all the pulleys. Crank the Chevy Express and inspect the belt again to ensure that the belt stays seated inside of the accessory pulleys.
Turn the engine off.
