I know you can get aftermarket ones, but from reading around, sometimes they don't work and I didn't want to take the chance. Last edited by LtimmyJ; at PM. Originally Posted by LtimmyJ. P Nissan Description The front heated oxygen sensor or O2 sensor 1 is placed into the exhaust manifold.

It detects the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas compared to the outside air. The heated oxygen sensor 1 has a closed-end tube made of ceramic zirconia. The zirconia generates voltage from approximately 1V in richer conditions to 0V in leaner conditions. The ECM adjusts the injection pulse duration to achieve the ideal air-fuel ratio.

Why is the Engine Light ON? Home - About AutoCodes. Posted and Edit by AutoCodes.By chreewebbMay 3, in Z Technical. After my beloved zed being in the garage for a couple weeks having some work done I finally got her back Saturday morning! However as I was driving on the evening suddenly the car died on me however I was going about 10mph in gear 1 at the time with the clutch up so the car felt like it braked but fired back up again I imagine this was just a bump start because of moving.

The car now takes longer than normal to start up and the lights remain on. I reset the ECU however the problem comes back. Is it possible that if the garage let the battery run low it has caused this issue? I've done some research and it seems a common problem so I'm not too worried. Is it worth taking out the sensor and cleaning it to see if it cures?

Also, if I replace Bank 1, should I replace Bank 2 aswell? Does it have to be a Nissan one or would the non-genuine sensors work perfectly fine? Thank you for any help! More or less the same thing happened to me but it was a warm start fail, rather than coasting, then it took ages to fire up on subsequent starts.

I got Nissan sensors from Clark Motorsport and replaced both, not had the issue since. I only did both as it was going in for work anyway and wanted to be proactive on bank 2. In terms of you're question about cleaning it. The failed one looked identical to the replacement when it came out. Nothing to clean off it.

O 2 Sensor

To summarise when it happened to me the car would drive normally until the engine was warm and then the power would briefly cut and return with the check engine light. The car was difficult to start when warm.

The US cars had a recall for the sensors but the UK cars didn't. I don't think cleaning it will make any difference. I brought mine from Zmanalex, I only replaced the Bank 1 sensor and 3 years later I've had no recurrence.

Going to order the sensor today that will hopefully cure the problem! Will probably fit it this weekend and post here once done! Thank you. Am I being dumb here? However they are saying this is Bank 2? I'm confused. That's what I thought, from my research I'm pretty sure the sensor for bank 1 is the straight one.

However this is stating its the opposite!

Don't want to order the wrong sensor. Thank you, guess it's the straight sensor I need then! Just thought I'd let everyone know I've fitted a new sensor which was a ball ache seeing as everything seemed to be seized on lol!

Fixed all the problems. Fingers crossed will stay this way! For anyone with the same issue, I followed this guide on how to do it as to make sure I was doing it right. Drove to nursery and work, then back to nursery and home.

Checked the error code, it was P Cleared the code and drove zed for mins, EML did not light up. Started zed up this morning and same code has reappear. Is this related to cold weather? Assuming it will only take mins to replace but part will be costly? Have you checked with a scan tool as to which Bank its relating to?

Bank 1 is drivers side, Bank 2 is passenger side. However, fault codes can sometimes be misleading. I had a P Code couple days after I purchased the car. It said Bank 2 Sensor 1 Pre cat was running lean. Before I did that, I got a new exhaust on after which the code went away and never came back. Turned out I had an exhaust leak between the manifold and cats which was affecting the sensor.

My new mobile not connecting with my ebay's special Bluetooth dongle. It was OK with the old phone. Will try with missus's phone over the weekend.

Will get to my local garage and ask them to do the swap and see after I done some logging. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account. Paste as plain text instead. Only 75 emoji are allowed.

Display as a link instead. Clear editor.By Guest, March 17, in Exhaust. It has been reset and tripped out again. Any thoughts on what might be causing this? The code next to the fault says P2A03 on the screenshot from the diagnostics computer.

Any help would be very much appreciated, seems weird that it was fine, then literally changing from one decat to another is causing just one side to trip. If it makes any difference this has been re-mapped by Horsham Developments, so sensors rear of the decats are disabled. Would an intake leak not be picked up by a sensor around that part of the engine rather than a sensor after the exhaust manifold?

Actually I've just realised that I have put manifold rather than exhaust manifold on original post which would have led to some confusion, editing now! Has you mpg got worst on a run? When I had a P2AO3 error code it was the exhaust gaskets. Where the manifold and cats meet up. Replaced mine and error code remained off - had to wipe it via OBD.

Ah thanks for dropping knowledge! My average mpg is still hovering at around 22mpg, although that is over time and the fact that I'm not driving it as I normally would due to the EML could be obscuring that. I will reset the average when I am on the motorway and see if I notice an appreciable difference. I do get some minor overrun and pops and bangs which I didn't have with the previous decats after the uprev, that could indicate that the ECU is adding more fuel to compensate?

The exhaust gaskets are shiny new ones which came with the Motordyne ARTs. It's sounding a little bit like maybe the passenger side one isn't sitting quite right, although the pressure test didn't turn up anything, and I was poking my hand around that area myself as well as the mechanic to see if I could feel any leaks. Thanks for the info, seems to be reinforcing a general story here. Went back to OEM. Ah ok that's interesting, something for me to look into.

How did you know it was a gasket problem?
